The car control is very sensitive or the car is difficult to steer.

The game takes forever to load.
I don't want to watch the videos every time I boot the game.
The timecard doesn't display times like my track does.
I've made a killer setup and want to send it to my friend. How do I do this?
I saved a setup then played around with another car and then wanted my old setup back. When I loaded it, it didn't reset to my old car.
I crossed the finish line before my opponent but I still lost. What am I doing wrong?
I've raced and have some good footage that I want to send a friend. Where is the VCR file?
My friend sent me a VCR file but what am I to do with it?
I've seen Burnout and Burnout Pro (Mr. Gasket) advertised. Are the two versions compatible?
I also have the program "Desktop Dyno" which was made by Motion Software. I saw an advertisement that said Burnout would be able to import the motor specs that I created in these programs. My version doesn't seem to have this feature.
When I start a race my car will creep forward as if I'm applying throttle.
When I turn on line-lock and attempt to do a burnout, my car just pushes forward.
Sometimes when I start the game the screen size will shrink to half its size?
I could not take a screen shot -- I started the game with the BURNOUT -S option and not matter when I hit the INS key nothing was saved to my saved game directory.
I was unable to change the first 3 graphic options -- they were set on LOW and I could not change them -- all the others could be changed.
While I was able to create and saved multiple drivers - I was only able to associate one chassis per driver -- is this true?

When I start Burnout, the menu items will scroll by themselves or the "Exit Burnout" box comes up and won't allow me to select anything or leave the game.

The car control is very sensitive or the car is difficult to steer.

This can be caused by several things:

1)	The joystick may not be calibrated properly. Recalibrate by going to the Calibrate Joystick tab, selecting Reset, and then recalibrating the stick.
2)	The steering parameters have been changed or the default setup is not working well. Adjust the steering controls (in Shop under Suspension). Decreasing the Steer Lock and/or increase the Steer Ratio to make the steering less "sensitive".
3)	The tires and weight distribution can make a big difference on how the car turns. The less weight and less "peak" grip your front tires have the easier they will loose traction and slide rather than turn your car and conversely, more weight or peak will c ause your tires to grip more and turn sharper.
4)	The car's suspension setup has changed. If the user plays with the car's suspension, they can dramatically change the way a car handles. Reset the car to it's default setup by selecting Reset All from the Shop screen.

The game takes forever to load.

Once installed, the only thing Burnout needs from the CD are the movie files. Depending on the speed of the CD, loading the movies can simply take a while but should play fine on most CD's. With low memory configurations, the files may not be able to be c ached through Smartdrive or other disk managers. The time it takes to search for the individual files can be huge. In this case, we should recommend using Smartdrive (SMARTDRV) or running under Windows (which uses smart drive). Finally, the slow loading m ay be caused by an error on the CD. In this case, look at the CD and see if there is a scratch, hair, dust or other physical markings. If so, clean the CD with a mild detergent, wiping from the inside out. If this doesn't fix it, contact customer support for a replacement disk.

You can bypass the videos by pressing a key or you can run Burnout from the command line with a -q option which will not play any of the videos.

In Burnout, the E.T. that is displayed is the combined time of the reaction time and the time it took the car to make it's run. Some tracks don't add the times together on their timecards. We chose to combine the times so that you can immediately see the difference between yourself and your opponent. If you want separate times, you'll have to subtract the time yourself by taking the displayed E.T. and subtracting the reaction time from it.

I've made a killer setup and want to send it to my friend. How do I do this?

The car setup files are saved in the SAVE directory with a .CSU extension. Simply send the friend the CSU file and have them put it in their SAVE directory.

The car setup data only retains the information for the components, not for the chassis. The chassis is saved in the driver file. This allows you to try setups on different chassis. Nothing is lost. All you need to do is reselect the correct chassis and reload the setup.

In bracket racing, you can't go over your dial-in time. So either you red-lighted (left the start too soon) or you broke out (went under your dial-in). See the manual for more reference.

The VCR data is saved (like everything else) in the SAVE directory in the directory Burnout is installed into. The file will be named whatever you selected and will have a .TEL extension.

My friend sent me a VCR file but what am I to do with it?

Put it into the SAVE directory and it will automatically show up when you hit load in the VCR.

The versions are fully compatible. The only addition to the program in the Pro version is the capability of importing the DYN files generated in a program called Desktop Dyno by Motion Software.

I also have the program "Desktop Dyno" which was made by Motion Software. I saw an advertisement that said Burnout would be able to import the motor specs that I created in these programs. My version doesn't seem to have this feature.

Importing DYN files directly will only be available in the version of the game from Motion Software called Burnout Pro. You should, however, be able to manually use the values you entered in the Desktop Dyno in Burnout with the exception of Nitro as a fue l. The game should accept all other values.

The "creeping" forward is caused by the automatic transmission (your real car will do this if you just take your foot of the brake). Just apply the brakes a little an it will stop.

Depending on how your car is setup will affect the ability to do a burnout. If you have a high torque engine, small tires with little grip on the front, or have the weight distribution way at the back (i.e. less than 50) then chances are the grip at the r ear of the car will probably just push the car forward with the front tires locked up. If you build a car like this you may need to do a rolling burnout to heat up the tires.

This is caused by Burnout detecting a low framerate on the Main Selection screen. This can be caused by a slow disk access, power management features, or by Windows stealing program time. This shouldn't happen very often but if it does, all you need to do is re-expand the screen by typing SHIFT [ and SHIFT ].

You can only take screen shots if you are running the 3DFX version.

The options have no relevance in the software version. This is only for the 3DFX version.

There can only be one chassis per driver.

This is caused on some system by the joystick not initializing correctly. This occurs almost entirely on digital joysticks. To correct the problem, delete the JOYSTICK.CAL file from the SAVE directory or disconnect your joystick. While not optimal, it will allow the game to be played.
